The Southeast Coalition for Roadway Safety is offering grant funding to local high schools that hold student lock-in events for Project Prom or High School Graduation. Schools must include a presentation or activity educating students on roadway safety issues within their night’s agenda. Activities/presentations can also be held the week of the event. If the student education requirement is not completed, this may impact the outcome of funding from this grant. Qualifying schools will receive $200 each to assist with event expenses such as venue rental, food or entertainment. High school must be located in the southeast district of MoDOT to be eligible for funding. Click here to view a map of the southeast district. Schools that are awarded grants may receive traffic safety education/promotional items. Grant applications are accepted January 7 - February 18, 2026.
If your school is selected as a grant recipient, funding will be sent directly to the school in the form of a check, with the MEMO line stating, "Project Prom/Graduation Grant". If this is an issue, please let Ashley Metelski know in advance.
Recipients are now required to send a short video/snippet of the roadway safety presentation/activity with students in attendance. It is also encouraged to send photos as well. Please send photos and videos via email or text (573-380-9432). Photos and videos may be posted to our website and on social media. Please obtain permission from the subjects prior to submitting.
