Project Summary

A conceptual study of U.S. Route 63 Corridor improvements in Adair and Schuyler counties, between Kirksville and the Iowa state line, is underway after being added to MoDOT’s statewide transportation plan. The project team, including the consulting firm Hg Consult, Inc., will evaluate transportation needs and potential improvement concepts for the corridor between 2.1 miles north of Route KK south of Kirksville and the Missouri/Iowa state line. This will include opportunities for passing lanes and/or shared four-lane and other roadway improvements within the 33-mile corridor.

U.S. Route 63 is a vital north-south corridor supporting local travel, freight, agriculture, and regional access. The study will help identify logical project segments and priorities for future improvement and investment. It will also update environmental, safety, and traffic data to ensure U.S. Route 63 continues to meet community and economic needs well into the future.
