What is the problem?
The Missouri Department of Transportation is implementing a project to address the aging pavement on New Florissant Road (Route N) from Pershall Road to south of January-Wabash Park. The project will also provide improvements to the existing sidewalks and some traffic signals.
Project Corridor Details:
The project will provide improvements on the New Florissant Road (Route N) corridor from Pershall Road to south of January-Wabash Park.
When will construction begin?
Construction will begin in summer 2024 and is expected to be completed by winter of 2025.
What is the solution?
This project will provide pavement improvement on the corridor that will include:
- Pavement resurfacing and new pavement markings along the corridor
- Upgraded sidewalks and curb ramps to meet ADA requirements
- Traffic signals replaced at Walnut Grove School Road, Robert Avenue and January Avenue.
Are bike facilities included in this project?
New Florissant Road will remain signed to remind drivers to share the road with cyclists.
What are the impacts from the project?
Impacts during the construction should be relatively minimal. Sections of sidewalks will be closed for periods as crews work on the updates. Drivers can also expect one lane closed in either during non-peak traffic hours while signals and sidewalks are updated. Crews will work on half of the access point at a time when there is only one entrance/exit from a business. Residential driveways are too small to complete half at a time – driveways will need to be closed for several days when they are being worked on. The contractor will be able to share a general timeframe when they anticipate being in the area - about a week or two in advance.
