St. Joseph, Mo. – A sidewalk improvement project is scheduled to begin Monday, July 17, in Purdin and Browning. The project to help ensure compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), funded in part through the Transportation Alternatives Program, will improve sidewalks and other pedestrian facilities in the two Linn County communities.
Stanton Contracting, LLC, working with the Missouri Department of Transportation, plan to complete the project by early October 2023.
Planned project schedule:
Browning (Routes MM and O) – scheduled to begin Monday, July 17.
- Crews plan to begin on the north side at 7th Street (Route MM) working east towards Alonzo Avenue (Route O). Once complete, crews will switch to the south side working west from Alonzo Avenue to 7th
- Work is expected to be complete in mid-August.
Purdin (Route 5) – scheduled to begin Monday, August 21.
- Crews plan to begin on the west side of A Street working south towards Ada Street. Once complete, crews will switch to the east side working north from Ada Street to A Street.
- Work is expected to be complete in early October.
Some lane closures will be necessary throughout the project. Motorists are encouraged to use caution and follow all traffic control, flaggers, signs and barricades. All vehicles and personal property will need to be removed from the work area prior to start of construction.
All work is weather-permitting, and schedules are subject to change.
