MoDOT to shift westbound Interstate 44 traffic near I-270 next week

ST. LOUIS – Drivers who use the Interstate 44 and Interstate 270 interchange in south west St. Louis County should be prepared for traffic next week.

This work was rescheduled due to extreme cold and wintry weather. All work is weather permitting.

Crews will move two westbound lanes of I-44 and the ramp lane from northbound I-270 to westbound I-44 onto the new westbound I-44 bridge, starting at 7 p.m. Tuesday, February 23. Crews will close up to two lanes at a time on westbound I-44 to make the switch.  The shift should be completed by 6 a.m. Wednesday, February 24.

After the shift, drivers on westbound I-44 and the ramp from northbound I-270 to westbound I-44 will not be able to access the exit at Soccer Park for up to three weeks while crews complete connections to westbound I-44. Drivers on the ramp from southbound I-270 to westbound I-44 will remain on the old westbound bridge during  this time and will be able to exit at Soccer Park.

To detour around the closure, drivers will need to exit at Bowles and use the outer roads and Yarnell to get to the businesses off Soccer Park until the new ramp opens later in mid-March.
