A corridor wide contract for the replacement of overhead signs along I-270 and I-255 between the Jefferson Barracks Bridge and the Chain of Rocks Bridge was awarded in early 2023.
Contractor crews review signs along the corridor to determine which ones meet Federal standards and which need to be replaced. That started in early spring 2023.
Crews install the signs along the corridor. Work starts in on I-270 near the Chain of Rocks Bridge and moves south on one side of I-270. When crews reach the Jefferson Barracks Bridge, they will move to the other side and head north. The project is set to be complete in late 2024.
What is the current situation?
Contractor crews have reviewed overhead signs along I-270 and I-255 between the Chain of Rocks Bridge and the Jefferson Barracks Bridge, determining which signs have reached the end of their useful life. New signs have been ordered and are currently in the process of being replaced, at the Chain of Rocks Bridge and working south down one side of the interstate, turning around at the Jefferson Barracks Bridge and returning north on the other side of the interstate.
