Improve I-70 Kansas City Community Engagement

Thank you!

Thank you for your interest in this project. As the project moves to the next phase of design-build procurement, outreach will be limited due to confidentiality requirements. Once the design-build team is selected, a public meeting will be held to share updated information. The Fall 2023 Fact Sheet has more information about the current status of Improve I-70 KC.

Past Community Engagement

The Missouri Department of Transportation (MoDOT) is improving aging infrastructure along Interstate 70 between The Paseo and U.S. 40.

For this section, MoDOT is conducting a re-evaluation of previously completed work from the second tier of the Environmental Impact Statement (EIS). Because the final EIS document was completed several years ago and conditions may have changed, a National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) re-evaluation is necessary.

As a result of comments received in March 2022, the project team incorporated that feedback into the modified design to find ways to improve safety, reduce congestion, and reconnect the community. At the September 2022 public meeting feedback was requested on these new ideas, such as locations for potential pedestrian crossing across I-70, continuation of lanes, and combining access points between I-70 and local roads. The comment period has closed.

Thank you to those who have submitted feedback, attended our in-person public meetings in March, and that have been involved in this project! Public commenting for Public Meeting #1 closed on March 31, 2022. The project team continues to review all of the feedback received as they continue with the re-evaluation. You can review the comments made online through the Interactive Map linked to the right.
