Bridge Set to Reopen on U.S. Route 40 Over Salt Creek in Howard County

Further bridge improvements scheduled on U.S. Route 40 over Bonne Femme Creek

JEFFERSON CITY, Mo – The Howard County U.S. Route 40 bridge over Salt Creek and the Katy Trail is scheduled to reopen Tuesday, March 14. U.S. Route 40 has been closed since June 2022 when contractors from Lehman Construction, LLC, working with the Missouri Department of Transportation (MoDOT), began a project to replace and widen the bridge.

When the Salt Creek Bridge reopens, the contractor plans to close U.S. Route 40 at the Bonne Femme Creek Bridge for rehabilitation. Planned work includes a new deck, rather than a complete replacement. The project is expected to be completed by summer 2023. For further information about either of these bridge projects, you may visit the projects’ webpages at:

The Salt Creek and Katy Trail bridge is included in Gov. Mike Parson’s $351 million Focus on Bridges program.

All work is weather permitting and schedules are subject to change. Motorists are advised to use extra caution through work zones, obey all traffic signs, and avoid any distractions.
