Route 40 Bridge Replacement to Begin in Howard County

JEFFERSON CITY – The replacement of the U.S. Route 40 bridge over Salt Creek and the Katy Trail is scheduled to begin on Monday, June 6, according to the Missouri Department of Transportation (MoDOT). The 80-year-old bridge will be replaced by a smoother, wider bridge which will improve motorist safety.

Route 40 could be closed for up to six months while construction takes place. A detour will be in place for motorists along Route 40, as well as those utilizing the Katy Trail. MoDOT appreciates the patience of those traveling around the work area.

The bridge is included in Gov. Mike Parson’s $351 million Focus on Bridges program, which will repair or replace 250 bridges across the state.

Work is weather permitting and could be delayed.
