Motorists Asked to Slow Down and Pass Crews Carefully

MoDOT crews have begun mowing roadsides across the state. Motorists will see tractor mowers near the shoulder of interstates and other busy roadways. Motorists need to slow down, move over a lane if possible and give crews room to work.

Administrative Rule Revisions

Revisions to 7 CSR 10-6 became effective May 30, 2014. Some of these revisions include information regarding digital upgrade requests, moratorium of new outdoor advertising permits in areas of construction or reconstruction and the sign reset agreement program in accordance with Section 226.541, RSMo.

Revised Applications

MoDOT has revised the Application for Permit to Erect and/or Maintain Outdoor Advertising, Application for Transfer of Outdoor Advertising Permit, and Application for Outdoor Advertising Vegetation Permit. The updated applications are available in both standard and form fill versions on our website or by contacting a Permit Specialist. Please ensure you are using the new applications with the revised date of 05/14.

Digital Sign Luminance

7 CSR 10-6.040 (4) (I) establishes sign luminance requirements in accordance with Section 226.541, RSMo. Sign luminance shall not exceed three hundred (300) candelas per square meter in full white mode between the periods of sunset to sunrise as calculated by the United States Naval Observatory.

Moving Ahead for Progress in the 21st Century

Moving Ahead for Progress in the 21st Century (MAP-21) expanded the routes that are considered part of the enhanced National Highway System and controlled for outdoor advertising and junkyards. Under MAP-21, MoDOT's outdoor advertising had an increase of 302 routes consisting of 662 centerline miles added to its control area.

National Alliance of Highway Beautification Agencies (NAHBA)

NAHBA's 17th Annual Educational  Conference on the Control of Outdoor Advertising was held April 27 - May 1, in Salt Lake City, Utah. MoDOT received the Award for Excellence for Innovations in Outdoor Advertising Control in Moving Ahead for Progress in the 21st Century Implementation.
