MoDOT Gets Ready for Winter with Statewide Drill
MoDOT crews will test their readiness for winter weather on October 31, when a statewide winter operations drill will take place across the state. Crews will time their snow plow routes and make sure all employees and equipment are ready to go for that first flake of snow.
Legislative Update
Governor Nixon signed HB 1402 into law. This bill contains language regarding a third classification of billboards (conforming out of standard) and allows for the resetting of billboards in project areas. The new law went into effect August 28, 2012. In accordance with Section 226.541 11, RSMo, MoDOT cannot implement the sign reset agreement program or digital technology upgrade regulation until we have completed the rulemaking process, which includes soliciting input from the industry, stakeholders, and the public. This process is currently underway.
Moving Ahead for Progress in the 21st Century
The latest federal transportation reauthorization act, Moving Ahead for Progress in the 21st Century (MAP 21), will have an impact on the routes we regulate for outdoor advertising and junkyards. MoDOT is working with the Federal Highway Administration regarding these changes. Outdoor advertising will see an increase in the number and mileage of regulated routes for both outdoor advertising and junkyards. MAP 21
