MoDOT Asks Motorists to "Rate Our Work Zone"

New signs help solicit feedback.  As the road construction and maintenance season begins, motorists are seeing highway work zones popping up across the state. MoDOT's job is to make the work zones clear to understand and navigate, and above all, safe.

Legislative Issues

Senate Bill 607 contains a provision relating to Outdoor Advertising. This bill was "Truly Agreed To and Finally Passed" on May 15, 2012. SB 607 changes the laws regarding billboards, specifically by amending Section 226.540 and adding Section 226.541. The bill is subject to Governor Nixon signing it into law. If the bill is signed by the Governor, the provisions relating to outdoor advertising will go into effect August 28, 2012.

HB 1402 changes the laws regarding billboards, specifically by amending Section 226.540 and adding Section 226.541. The bill is subject to Governor Nixon signing it into law. If the bill is signed by the Governor, the provisions relating to outdoor advertising will go into effect August 28, 2012.

New Brochure

A new brochure is available highlighting outdoor advertising rules and regulations. This brochure covers application, permit requirements, sign construction, maintenance, nonconforming status, cutting / trimming of vegetation, cutout and extensions, billing, transfers, and address changes.

Political Signs

With upcoming elections this year, soon we will be seeing political signs. Installation of signs on state right of way is unsafe as well as prohibited by law. Keep in mind that political signs are considered free speech so no state permit is required if placed on the supporter's property.

2012 Annual NAHBA Conference

The 2012 Annual Educational Conference on the Control of Outdoor Advertising will be held August 19-21 in Spokane, Washington. Register online now, and view the proposed agenda along with other information relating to the conference.

Outdoor Advertising New Permit Specialists

Outdoor advertising areas have been reorganized and we have welcomed two new permit specialists. Stacy Heckert has Area 6 and Beth Oliver has Area 2. Please welcome these new specialists as they take on their area.
