Open Records Policy - Sunshine Requests

It is the policy of MoDOT to comply with the provisions of Chapter 610 of the 2000 Revised Statutes of Missouri (RSMo), as amended, the Missouri Open Records (Sunshine) law.  MoDOT recognizes that it is the public policy of the state of Missouri that all meetings, records, etc., of public governmental bodies are open to public inspection except those that the statutes allow to be closed.

Legislative Issues

The 2010 legislative session ended May 14th.  Proposed legislation concerning Outdoor Advertising issues ( SB 678, SB 723, and SB 746) failed to gain enough support to advance for passage into law.

ODA Control Classes

MoDOT will host a class on ODA Control on July 20th from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at the Cowan Civic Center in Lebanon, Missouri.  Topics include MoDOT's preferred practices and procedures, an overview of the Highway Beautification Act, Missouri's Federal / State Agreement, and Missouri Rules and Regulations regarding outdoor advertising.  There will also be a question and answer session.  There is no fee to attend this class; however, registration is required.  To register please email Jessica Sawyer.  This class will be offered throughout the state later in the year.

Cutting and Trimming of Vegetation on Right of Way

In a news release dated March 10, 2010, MoDOT outlined further cost saving measures, which included a reduction in the mowing of right of way.  Outdoor advertising permit holders may notice an increase of vegetation along MoDOT right of way and are reminded that a Vegetation Permit is required for all vegetation cutting, trimming, and spraying on MoDOT right of way. 

2010 Annual NAHBA Conference

The 2010 Annual Education Conference on the Control of Outdoor Advertising will be held August 15 - 18 in Madison, Wisconsin. Register online now, and view the proposed agenda along with other information relating to the conference. The early-bird registration deadline is July 15th.
