Summertime Safety

Summertime Safety -  Help Us End Traffic Deaths

Summer is the time of year for all Missourians to get out and enjoy the wonders our state has to offer. In order to have those good times and keep them rolling, arriving at your destination safely is the first step. The task of driving requires every ounce of your attention and should always take precedence over any other activity in the vehicle. There are many factors that contribute to commuting safely.

  • At 20 mph, a pedestrian has a 90% chance of surviving a crash. At 40 mph, the chance of survival drops to just 20%.
  • Impaired driving accounts for over 20% of the traffic fatalities in Missouri.
  • Preliminary data for 2022 shows there were 151 motorcyclist fatalities on Missouri roadways, accounting for 14% of all traffic fatalities in the state.

Be mindful of others by sharing the road responsibly. Buckle your seat belt, put your cell phone down, drive the speed limit and don't drive impaired. Arrive at your destinations safely and do your part in keeping you, your family, and other road users safe.
