MoDOT COVID-19 information

Interactive Maps

Outdoor Advertising has two interactive maps to assist customers, local municipalities and counties in maintaining and updating sign inventory information. The Outdoor Advertising Location Map is an interactive map where the public can view permitted sign locations. The Billboard/Junkyard Controlled Routes Map is an interactive map where the public can view the routes that are regulated for the control of outdoor advertising and junkyards. Take time to explore these user-friendly data maps.

Winter Weather

More than 3,000 MoDOT employees, including Outdoor Advertising Permit Specialists, are involved in clearing roads and bridges as quickly as possible when winter weather hits. In addition to finding winter road conditions on MoDOT’s Traveler Information Map, visitors to modot.org can find information on plowing priorities, sharing the road with snow plows, equipping your vehicle for winter travel and much more.

Engineering Policy Guide

MoDOT’s Engineering Policy Guide (EPG) provides a single reference for all engineering and engineering-related Bridge, Construction, Design, Highway Safety & Traffic, Maintenance, Planning and Right of Way guidance. Outdoor Advertising guidance is located under the Right of Way Section in EPG 236.16 Outdoor Advertising and EPG 236.17 Junkyards. Customers will find helpful information regarding the outdoor advertising and junkyard process.

Service Club and Religious Notices

Outdoor Advertising has many different types of off premise signs that require a permit, including billboards, directional, service club and religious notices. Service club and religious notices are signs and notices relating to religious, fraternal, nonprofit service clubs and veteran organizations. These sign permits are issued to the organization and cannot bear an advertising message. Fixing America’s Surface Transportation Act (FAST Act), which was signed into federal law on December 4, 2015, limits the size for new Service Club and Religious Signs to eight square feet. Service club an religious organizations should contact their ODA Permit Specialist to discuss available options.
