ST. JOSEPH, Mo. – The following is a listing of general highway maintenance and construction work in the Northwest Missouri region planned for the week of Jan. 7 –13 from the Missouri Department of Transportation.
MoDOT reminds the public to stay alert, watch for road work, buckle up, slow down, and drive with extreme caution through work zones and in changing weather conditions.

Interstate 29 - Bridge maintenance at the Hopkins and Mace Creek Bridge. The driving lane will be closed around the clock from 8 a.m. Jan. 8 through 4 p.m. Jan. 10.
U.S. Route 59 – Pavement repair and shoulder work from U.S. Route 136 to the Holt County line, Jan. 7 – 11
U.S. Route 136 – Pothole patching from the Nebraska state line to Route M, Jan. 7 – 11
Route 46 – Shoulder work from U.S. Route 59 to Route EE, Jan. 7 – 11
Interstate 29 – Bridge maintenance at the Nishnabotna River Bridge near the Iowa state line, Jan. 8 – 9
I-229 – Bridge maintenance over Poulin Street, Jan. 7 – 11
U.S. Route 36 – Bridge maintenance over Route 759 and St. Joseph Sub railway, Jan. 7 – 11
I-229 - CLOSED for repair to protective barrels at I-229 SB off ramp to Felix and I-229 NB off ramp to Edmond, Jan. 10, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Each ramp may only be closed a few hours during this time frame, but as the exact length of the closures is unknown at this time, motorists are advised to use an alternate route.
Route 33 - CLOSED for a culvert replacement from just south of SE Cannonball Road to SE 220th Street, Jan. 10, 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
I-35 – Pothole patching from Exit 106 (Eagleville) to Exit 84 (Gilman City), Jan. 7 –11
U.S. Route 69 – Shoulder work from Bethany to Eagleville, Jan. 7 – 11
I-29 - Bridge maintenance at the Nodaway River Bridge, Jan. 15 - 18. The southbound driving lane will be closed around the clock.
Route 5 – Pothole patching from U.S. Route 36 to the city limits of Browning, Jan. 7
U.S. Route 36 – Pothole patching from Route F to Route 5, Jan. 7 –8
U.S. Route 36 – Pothole patching from Route 139 to Route D (Livingston County), Jan. 7 – 11
Route 129 – Culvert repair from Route U to Nugget Road, Jan. 8
U.S. Route 36 – Pavement repair from the Grand River Bridge to the Grand River Overflow Bridge, Jan. 7 – 9
U.S. Route 36 – Pothole patching from Route D to Route 139 (Linn County), Jan. 7 – 11
Route 148 – Shoulder work from U.S. Route 71 to the Iowa state line, Jan. 7 – 11
U.S. Route 136 – Pothole patching from U.S. Route 71 to Route PP, Jan. 10
Route 139 – CLOSED at the Newtown Branch Bridge for a bridge replacement project. The contractor plans to have work completed mid-March, weather permitting. For more information, visit https://www.modot.org/route-139-newtown-branch-bridge
Route PP – CLOSED UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE at the East Medicine Creek Bridge after a regularly scheduled inspection revealed critical deterioration to the structure. The bridge is currently scheduled for replacement in fiscal year 2020.
Route 5 – Milling and pothole patching, Jan. 7 – 8
Route PP – Culvert repair just west of Bluff Drive, Jan. 9
Route YY – CLOSED UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE at the Middle Fork of the Grand River after a regularly scheduled inspection revealed critical deterioration to the structure. The bridge is currently scheduled for replacement in fiscal year 2021.
