Crews will begin CLOSING lanes of I-435 westbound beginning at 6p.m. on Friday Oct. 19 until only one lane remains open. Crews will also REDUCE I-435 eastbound to two lanes beginning Friday evening. Westbound I-470 will also be REDUCED to one lane coming into the interchange.

Crews will also CLOSE the following access ramps:

  • Westbound I-435 to 103rd off-ramp
  • 103rd on-ramp to eastbound I-435
  • Northbound I-49 ramp to westbound I-435
  • Southbound Route 71 ramp to westbound I-435

This work is for a repair on the Blue River Bridge, one of the several bridges undergoing replacement or rehabilitation as part of the I-435 South Loop Link project. The bridge has multiple failed bearings that are in need of immediate replacement, although the bridge deck will undergo rehab work at a later date. All work is weather dependent.

Motorists should expect delays traveling through the area and plan ahead with alternate routes in mind. Review the work on MoDOT’s Traveler Information map at traveler.modot.org. For potential impacts to traffic, please review KC Scout cameras at http://www.kcscout.net/

The Missouri Department of Transportation urges all motorists to always wear safety belts, follow posted speed limits and be alert for slowed traffic, narrowed lanes or a reduced number of lanes during construction and maintenance work. And remember, every work zone is a NO PHONE ZONE.
