Public Hearing to Discuss Route 34 Project in Bollinger County

SIKESTON-The Missouri Department of Transportation will hold a public hearing from 4 to 7 p.m. on Thursday, March 1 to discuss improvements to Route 34 in Bollinger County. The hearing will be held at the Woodland Elementary School Gym, located on Route 34 in Marble Hill.

The meeting will have an open-house format, so visitors can stop by to talk one-on-one with a member of the project team anytime between 4 and 7 p.m. No formal presentation will be given.

The project will include resurfacing, adding shoulders and some curve corrections from 1.6 miles east of Route DD to 0.5 miles west of Route ZZ near Glenallen.

"This project will be similar to the work at Glenallen and will aid in improving safety," said Project Manager Eric Krapf.

Work is anticipated to begin in spring 2013, with completion in winter 2013. As construction is underway, motorists can expect flagger-controlled work zones with bypasses at the relocation areas.
