ST. LOUIS – Drivers heading to Illinois across the Interstate 55/Interstate 64 Mississippi River Bridge (the Poplar Street Bridge) this weekend should consider alternate routes or expect delays as crews will close three left lanes on the eastbound bridge.
Illinois Department of Transportation crews will close three lanes on the bridge starting at 7 p.m. Friday, November 1, to make repairs to the interstate after a recent tractor trailer crash on the Illinois side. During that work, MoDOT will also make repairs to a bridge joint on the east side of the bridge.
Drivers leaving Missouri can expect significant delays traveling through the work zone and may want to consider using Metro, or the Stan Musial Veterans Memorial Bridge, Jefferson Barracks Bridge, Chain of Rocks Bridge or McKinley Bridge as alternate routes.
All lanes are expected to reopen before 3 p.m. Monday, November 4.
