Crews will be making pavement and sidewalk improvements on Boone County Route M (Broadway Street) in Ashland.
Why is this work necessary?
The full-depth pavement improvements from Main Street to Henry Clay Boulevard are necessary due to the condition of the underlying layers of the pavement, which have deteriorated to the point that surface repairs are no longer adequate. Resurfacing west of Main Street and east of Henry Clay Boulevard is necessary to keep pavement in good condition. The improved pavement will provide a smoother, safer surface with better traction for motorists. The sidewalk improvements are needed to bring the sidewalks and intersections along Route M into compliance with the federal Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990.
How will traffic be affected?
Route M will be closed during construction of the full depth pavement between Main Street and Henry Clay Blvd. Alternate routes will be available. Additional resurfacing west of Main Street and East of Henry Clay will be completed with single lane closures. The sidewalk construction will require some temporary sidewalk closures. Some private and commercial entrances will require partial or full closures. Lane closures will be necessary at some intersections during construction.
When will the work take place?
The project is scheduled to be awarded in 2019, with construction taking place in 2019.
Will additional right of way be needed to construct these projects?
All pavement work will take place within existing right of way. Some temporary and permanent easements will be needed for the sidewalk improvements.
What will the project cost?
The total cost of the project, which includes similar work in Hallsville, is estimated at $1,587,000.
