St. Louis Work Zones for June 15-21

ST. LOUIS – People heading to the Taste of Downtown or Father’s Day events in St. Louis City should consider taking Metro or allowing themselves extra time as MoDOT will close more than two miles of westbound I-44 in the city this weekend.

Starting at 8 p.m. Friday, June 16, MoDOT will close:

  • All lanes of westbound I-44 from the Stan Musial Veterans Memorial Bridge to the Poplar Street Bridge;
  • All lanes of westbound I-44 and southbound I-55 from the Poplar Street Bridge to the I-44/I-55 split.

Drivers will only be able to continue on I-70 to the Stan Musial Veterans Memorial Bridge or exit to Tucker.

In addition, MoDOT will close the following at 7 p.m. Friday, June 16: the I-70 express lanes; the ramp from Washington Avenue to westbound I-44; the South Memorial Drive ramp to westbound I-44/southbound I-55; the ramp from the westbound Poplar Street Bridge to southbound I-55/westbound I-44; and the ramp from the westbound Poplar Street Bridge to Walnut/eastbound I-44.

All lanes will reopen by 5 a.m. Monday morning.

Drivers on southbound Interstate 55 in Jefferson County should give themselves extra time when traveling this weekend. One lane on northbound I-55 will be closed at Route A starting on Friday, June 16 at 1 p.m. until Monday, June 19 at 5 a.m.

Drivers are encouraged to use the zipper merge when traveling through the lane closure by filling up both lanes of traffic and then taking turns merging just before the closure point.  This will actually make traffic flow better and decrease merging dangers.

For additional work zone information and real-time roadway weather conditions, go to http://traveler.modot.org/map.  For real-time traffic, visit www.gatewayguide.com. All work is weather permitting and may be shifted due to inclement weather.
