St. Louis Business Partners Help MoDOT Beautify I-64 Landscape
MoDOT Holds Press Conference at 9 a.m. Thursday at I-64 and Brentwood
ST. LOUIS - As a part of the new I-64 project, where MoDOT rebuilt 10 miles of Interstate 64 in the heart of St. Louis County, the department planted 3,400 trees, 6,200 shrubs and acres of new grass. In an effort to protect that investment and to ensure the successful growth and care of these new plants, the Missouri Department of Transportation has developed a new landscape sponsor program for the new stretch of I-64 in St. Louis City and County.
Who: Leaders from Outdoor Solutions, Natural One and the Missouri Department of Transportation will discuss the significance of the I-64 Landscape Sponsorship program and how it will save money. These leaders will showcase the new highway signs located between Spoede and Big Bend.
What: The I-64 Landscape Sponsorship helps businesses invest in the area and help provide a welcoming front door to many of the communities in St. Louis. Businesses that sponsor a portion of landscape are also recognized on a sign at the sponsored location.
Where: The press conference will begin promptly at 9 a.m., Thursday, June 27, at the city of Brentwood's fountain on the south side of Brentwood Boulevard at I-64. The media and public are invited to attend.
Directions: Take I-64 to Brentwood Boulevard. Go south on Brentwood. Parking available at Brentwood Square shopping center and attendees will cross Brentwood to access the fountain.
Why: The department has several locations along the I-64 corridor between Kingshighway and Spoede available for sponsorship. The available locations have a landscape sponsor sign, and a note to call MoDOT at 1-888-ASK-MoDOT to sponsor the area. If sponsorships are successful along the new lanes of I-64, the department intends to expand the program to other interstates.
