MoDOT Begins Blasting on Southbound I-270 Tomorrow, Weather Permitting

ST. LOUIS - The Missouri Department of Transportation will begin rock blasting work along southbound I-270 from Manchester to I-44 starting tomorrow at 1 p.m. All lanes on both directions of I-270 in this section will be closed for up to 15 minutes on weekdays to blast rock as part of the widening construction. This blasting work and interstate closure is weather permitting.

Crews will need to blast and then clear any rock from the roadway before reopening the interstate. These closures will occur on every weekday throughout this month, weather permitting.

Big Bend Boulevard near I-270 will also be closed in both directions for up to 15 minutes during the rock blast.

Motorists are urged to use alternate routes and adjust their travel times. Motorists should avoid I-270 and Big Bend from 12:30 p.m. to 1:30 on weekdays if possible. MoDOT has enhanced work zone warning signs to make them more visible to motorists so they know about the interstate closures. Check out our online Traveler Information Map at www.modot.org with work zone information to help you plan your trip during these daily closures.
