WASHINGTON - Missouri Department of Transportation, along with its contractor, St. Louis Bridge Construction Company, expects to reopen all lanes of the Route 47 Missouri River Bridge Sunday afternoon, December 20. When MoDOT opens the bridge to two-way traffic, the city streets will open and the 20-ton weight limit will be removed.
"There will be some temporary lane closures at off-peak times after the bridge is reopened to two-way traffic for crews to remove signals and do clean-up work," said Judy Wagner, MoDOT Area Engineer for Franklin County.
MoDOT and St. Louis Bridge Construction Company have been working together to reduce as much impact to motorists as possible. This work was part of the rehabilitation project on the Route 47 Bridge, which is located at the Franklin and Warren Counties line.
"We are pleased that the rehabilitation work was completed without closing the bridge completely for two weekends as we expected when the project began in March," said Wagner. "Thank you to the motorists who travel across the bridge and the local businesses for your continued patience and understanding as we work to provide you a safe and efficient transportation system."
