SULLIVAN - The Missouri Department of Transportation and its contractor L. Krupp Construction recently opened the Route D (Exit 225) overpass in Sullivan. This bridge has been closed for approximately two months while crews removed the existing overpass to construct a new and wider one.

There will be periodic lane drops on Interstate 44 and on the Exit 225 overpass while crews perform remaining work, such as painting and guardrail/sign installation.

This work is part of the Route D (Exit 225) Overpass Improvement Project to widen and rehabilitate the bridge over I-44. This project will help reduce congestion on the overpass to improve safety for I-44 traffic. Construction began in December 2008 and is expected to be complete in summer 2009.

Motorists may experience delays during this work and are encouraged to use alternate routes. Plan ahead to avoid work zones, call 1-888-ASK-MODOT or visit our website at www.modot.org.
