I-64 Regional Traffic Weekly Rush Briefing – November 24
Nov 1-14 rush information

ST. LOUIS - Travel times around the region remain fairly consistent this fall as the west half closure of I-64 continues.  Engineers with MoDOT, St. Louis City and County and Gateway Constructors have been focusing their efforts on adjusting signal timing and preparing roads for the east half closure starting December 15, 2008.

"We are making every effort to maximize the traffic flow on the region's roads in preparation for the east half of I-64 closure on December 15," said MoDOT St. Louis District Engineer Ed Hassinger.  "As we are doing our plans, it is time for the public to make their plans and know their alternate routes.  Motorists can greatly improve their travel times by avoiding 7-8 a.m. and 4:30-5:30 p.m."

Here is a listing of some of the changes engineers are making now and in the coming weeks to be ready for December 15:

  • New signal timing on Olive and Page east of I-170
  • New signal timing by the City on Kingshighway, Hampton, Skinker/McCausland ,Vandeventer, Tucker, Truman,Lafayette and Grand
  • Stripe a dual left turn on northbound Skinker to westbound clayton
  • Stripe a dual left turn on northbound Skinker to westbound Forest Park Parkway
  • New right turn lane from westbound Manchester to northbound McCausland

The following segments are a representation of the traffic volume changes and travel times during the AM and PM rush periods.  The peak travel times are from 7:30 - 8:30 for the AM peak and 4:30 to 5:30 for the PM peak.
