I-64 Regional Traffic Weekly Rush Briefing - October 15
Oct. 1 - Oct. 15 rush information

ST. LOUIS - Traffic volumes along interstates have increased in a few locations over the past few weeks. Traffic patterns have also noticeably changed with the closure of Hampton at I-64.

Biggest changes in the beginning of October are concentrated on a few interstates.  Volumes on I-70 are increasing in both the a.m. and p.m. rush between I-170 and I-270.  There is also an increase on I-270 at the Chain of Rocks Bridge.  The other volume change has been on both Page and Olive between I-270 and I-170 with an increase of 20 percent, which is the highest volume yet this year for these two roads.

"Since the Hampton and I-64 interchange closed last month, the load of traffic has shifted to Kingshighway and McCausland.  These two routes were already very busy and now they are full during rush hours," said MoDOT I-64 Project Director Lesley Hoffarth.  "During morning rush, Kingshighway consistently backs up from Southwest Avenue to I-64.  If drivers can avoid the time period from 7:15 a.m. to 8:30 a.m., they can improve their travel times.  MoDOT and City traffic engineers continue to monitor these routes to make adjustments if possible."
