Lindbergh/Lemay Ferry Ribbon Cutting Ceremony
Oct. 25
Project completed three weeks ahead of schedule MEHLVILLE – To celebrate the completion of the Lindbergh Boulevard and Lemay Ferry Road intersection improvement project, the Missouri Department of Transportation and the South County Chamber of Commerce will hold a ribbon cutting ceremony at 9 a.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 25 at the strip mall parking lot at the northwest corner of the Lindbergh Blvd. and Lemay Ferry Rd. intersection (near Westfield Shoppingtown South County). The strip mall includes Gingham's Restaurant, Maytag Home Appliance Center, and Quizno’s. Editor’s note: Download directions to the Lindbergh/Lemay Ferry Ceremony. (PDF, 59kb, 1 page) Federal, local and state elected officials will help celebrate the completion of the project. Project Details:
  • The Lindbergh Blvd. and Lemay Ferry Rd. intersection cannot handle the large amount of vehicles traveling through the area. This is due partly to the fact there are single left turn lanes and single shared through/right turn lanes to and from Lindbergh Blvd. and Lemay Ferry Rd.
  • The increased congestion at the intersection has contributed to frequent accidents at this location, particularly rear-end collision accidents.
  • This $3.2 million project constructed dual left-turn lanes and dedicated right-turn lanes at all approaches of the Lindbergh Blvd. and Lemay Ferry Rd. intersection.
  • To further help relieve congestion and improve safety at the intersection, access to and from local businesses has been revised and/or restricted.
  • Construction began in August 2004.
  • Construction was completed approximately three weeks ahead of schedule.
  • The contractor for the project was N.B. West Contracting Company, Inc.
Editor’s note: A map showing the improvements is located on MoDOT’s web site. (PDF, 1.1 mb, 1 page) ###For more information, contact MoDOT Area Engineer Tom Blair at (314) 340-4291. Prepared by Senior Community Relations Specialist Chris Sutton at (314) 340-4160.
