I-64 Regional Traffic Weekly Rush Briefing – April 16
Weeks of April 1 and April 7 rush information

ST. LOUIS - After more than 100 days since the closure of I-64, the traffic volumes on the region's interstates and major roads have stabilized.  The major problems are on the major roads during the peak one hour in the a.m. and one hour in the p.m.

"Motorists have changed their driving times back to pre-closure peak times. This compression has increased congestion," said Lesley Hoffarth, MoDOT I-64 project director.  "We are receiving more complaints about signal problems, but the signal timing hasn't changed.  If motorists can shift their driving time by as little as 30 minutes, they could have improved travel times."

Key trouble spots for peak morning congestion include:

  • I-270 from Gravois to Manchester
  • I-270 at Olive
  • I-270 at Ladue
  • I-170 at Page
  • Brentwood between Manchester and Galleria Parkway
  • Ballas between Conway and Clayton

Key trouble spots for peak evening congestion:

  • I-270 from Page to I-44
  • Olive from Lindbergh to I-270
  • Brentwood between Clayton and Eager
  • Ballas between Conway and Clayton

Rush Period:

  • Morning
    • Time = 6-8:30 a.m.
    • Volumes peaked from 6:30-7:30 a.m. on interstates and 7:30-8:30 a.m. on arterials
  • Evening
    • Time = 3:30 - 6:30 p.m.
    • Volumes peaked from 5 - 6 p.m. on interstates and 4:30-5:30 p.m. on arterial roads
