I-64 Regional Traffic Daily Rush Briefing – January 14
January 11 p.m. rush and January 14 a.m. rush information

ST. LOUIS - Traffic flow on the region's roads continues to flow well in both morning and evening rush hour due to the efforts of everyone in St. Louis.  However, drivers appear to be sliding back to normal peak times of 7-8 a.m. and 5-6 p.m.

The demolition of I-64 over Brentwood was completed this weekend.  The McKnight Road bridge over I-64 closed at 7 a.m. Monday, January 14 and will remain closed for approximately six months for reconstruction.  Motorists are advised to use Brentwood as an alternative while McKnight is closed.

Rush Period: 

  • Evening for January 11
    • Time = 3:00 - 6:30 p.m.
    • Volumes peaked from 5 - 6 p.m. on interstates and 5-5:30 p.m. on arterial roads
  • Morning for January 14
    • Time = 6:30 - 8:30 a.m.
    • Volumes peaked from 7-8 a.m.

Summary of evening rush January 11 peak times (avoiding these peak times will shorten travel times):

  • I-270
    • 5-6 p.m. peak with heaviest area southbound from Ladue to Dougherty Ferry
  • Route 141
    • 6-6:30 p.m. peak with heaviest area southbound from Big Bend to I-44
  • Page
    • 5-5:30 p.m. peak with heaviest area from Lindbergh and I-270
  • Olive
    • 4:30-5 p.m. peak with heaviest area from Lindbergh to I-270
  • Manchester
    • 5:30-6 p.m. peak with various spots of heavier flow from Hanley to Route 141
  • Lindbergh
    • 4:30-6 p.m. peak with heaviest area southbound from Clayton to I-44

 

Summary of morning rush January 14 peak times (avoiding these peak times will shorten travel times):

  • I-270
    • 6:30-7:30 a.m. peak with heaviest area from I-55 to I-44
  • Route 141 at I-44
    • 6:30-7:30 a.m. peak with heaviest area from Gravois to I-44
  • Page
    • 7:30-8 a.m. peak
  • Olive
    • 7:30-8 a.m. peak, exit ramps at I-270 are backing up to Ladue going northbound and to Page going southbound
  • Manchester
    • 7:30-8 a.m. peak time from Route 141 to Hanley
  • Lindbergh
    • 6:30 a.m. to 7:30 a.m. peak for north and southbound, problem spot on southbound Lindbergh turning left to eastbound Clayton

Incident Report:

A few incidents to report for January 11 p.m. rush.

o       Southbound I-270 between Manchester and Dougherty Ferry, two incidents started at 3:20 p.m. and cleared by 3:50 p.m.

o       Southbound Lindbergh at I-44, one lane closed from 4:30-5:30 p.m.

o       Westbound I-44 at Antire, crash was at 4:10 p.m. and it was cleared from the lane in 3 minutes but not off the shoulder for 50 minutes, westbound was backed up to Soccer Park for the rest of rush hour

One incident occurred January 14 a.m. rush:

o       Eastbound I-70 at Goodfellow, two left lanes closed from 7:30-8 a.m.
