Route 30 and Geyer/Sappington Barracks Safety Project

What's going on now?

MoDOT held a public meeting to discuss options for a safety project at Route 30 at Geyer/Sappington Barracks. The meeting took place Jan. 15, at Mehlville Fire House #5, 11020 Mueller Road, St. Louis, MO, 63123.

What is the problem with this intersection?

Route 30 at Geyer Road/Sappington Barracks is considered a hazardous intersection due to the number of crashes occurring at this location. MoDOT received inquiries about possible safety improvements to the intersection from local residents and performed a traffic study.

In the traffic study, two options were identified that addressed maintaining traffic flow in the area as well as reducing crashes at the intersection.

What are two options for this intersection?

MoDOT is looking at two options for this intersection: installing a traffic signal or constructing U-turns. Both options have benefits and drawbacks.

What is the timeline for this project?

  • Jan. 15- Public meeting held
  • Spring 2008- Construction begins
  • Fall 2008- Construction completed
