MoDOT Opens Route 100 Bridge in Gray Summit in Time for the School Year!
The Missouri Department of Transportation has opened the Route 100 Bridge on August 14, which is located over Interstate 44 between the Gray Summit and Route 100 interchanges.
"This new bridge is great news for Franklin County motorists with us opening it in time for the school year," said Judy Wagner, MoDOT Area Engineer for Franklin County. "MoDOT and its contractor worked hard this summer to open the bridge on-time as promised."
There will be various lane closures on I-44 between the Gray Summit and Route 100 interchanges during non-peak travel times until the end of the month. Crews will perform remaining work on the bridge to complete the replacement project.
MoDOT replaced the existing deteriorated bridge on Route 100 over Interstate 44 during the past three months. This new bridge will provide a safe structure for many years and reduce maintenance costs on the existing structure, which meets MoDOT's goal to keep its bridges in good condition. This bridge replacement project was awarded to Fred Weber for approximately $1.3 million.
MoDOT reminds motorists to watch for our orange signs and workers because they are there for a good reason. Slow down and be alert. Don't Barrel Through Work Zones."
This existing Route 100 Bridge over I-44 in Gray Summit needed to be replaced due to deterioration on the aging structure.
