Cowskin Creek Bridge Replacement: Route 14, Ava area (Douglas County)

  • Excavating for bridge footings
  • Pouring concrete for bridge footings and columns

Traffic Impacts:

  • Route 14 CLOSED until Aug. 3
  • Signed detour on Route 5, Route 76 and Douglas County Route O

Project Information:

  • Replace Cowskin Creek bridge with longer, wider span
  • Bridge is part of MoDOT’s Safe & Sound bridge improvement program
  • Project completion: August 3, 2011

  • Goodhope/Ava area:  Seal Route 76 with a mixture of rock and oil.  Traffic stops up to 30 minutes.  Follow pilot car.  Seal Route NN with a mixture of rock and oil.  Traffic stops up to 30 minutes.  Follow pilot car.
  • Rome area:  Seal Route A with a mixture of rock and oil.  Traffic stops up to 30 minutes.  Follow pilot car.
  • Squires area:  Seal Route P with a mixture of rock and oil.  Traffic stops up to 30 minutes.  Follow pilot car.
  • Drury area:  Lay long asphalt patches on Route AA
  • Watch for lane closings and slow-moving work vehicles.  Obey flaggers.

Greene County

Construction Projects -

Route 60/65 Interchange Reconstruction:  Springfield (Greene County)

  • Pouring concrete for widening of eastbound Route 60 bridge over Lake Springfield
  • Hauling rock and dirt to build up areas for the new westbound Route 60 bridge over the railroad tracks
  • Paving connections between existing lanes of northbound Route 65 and the new lanes south and north of Route 60
  • Building columns for the new eastbound and westbound Route 60 bridges over the railroad tracks west of Route 65

Traffic Impacts:

  • RAMP OPENING:  Northbound Route 65-to-eastbound Route 60 ramp is open to traffic
  • NIGHTTIME RAMP CLOSINGS: Southbound Route 65-to-westbound Route 60 and westbound Route 60-to-northbound Route 65 ramps closed.  Work hours: 7:30 p.m. to 6 a.m. Sunday through Thursday.
  • TRAFFIC PATTERN CHANGES:
    • Third lane of southbound Route 65 open between Sunshine Street and Route 60
    • Southbound right-lane of Route 65 is exit-only lane to westbound Route 60
    • Southbound lanes of Route 65 narrowed and shifted toward the right shoulder just north of Route  60
    • Temporary southbound Route 65-to-westbound Route 60 ramp open
    • Southbound Route 65 speed limit near Route 60 reduced to 50 mph
  • TRAFFIC SHIFT: All Route 60 traffic shifted to eastbound lanes between Lake Springfield bridge and a point east of Glenstone Avenue.  Only one lane open in each direction on Route 60.  Speed limit reduced to 45 mph.
  • RAMP CLOSING: Westbound Route 60-to-southbound Route 65 ramp CLOSED until summer or fall 2012.  Traffic detoured westbound on Route 60 to Glenstone Avenue to eastbound Route 60 to southbound Route 65.
  • Northbound Route 65 traffic shifted to median south of Route 60.  Speed limit reduced to 45 mph.
  • Nighttime ramp and lane closings possible throughout week
  • Dump trucks and other equipment entering and leaving work areas
  • Traffic shifted and driving lanes narrowed on Route 65 and Route 60
  • Work zone speed limit: 60 mph
  • Work zone speed limit when ramps or lanes are closed: 45 mph

Trail Impacts:

  • James River Greenway Trail closed south of Route 60 to Brunswick Avenue on the east side of Route 65.  Trail closed indefinitely for overhead bridge work on Route 60 east of Route 65.  
  • Galloway Creek Greenway trail closed at Route 60 near the railroad tracks indefinitely.

Project Background:

  • Build directional, "flyover" ramps to eliminate a tight conflict point on the existing northbound                    Route 65 bridge over Route 60
  • Build new bridges over the railroad tracks on Route 60
  • Replace the northbound Route 65 bridge over Route 60 and the westbound Route 60 bridge over Lake Springfield
  • Widen the eastbound Route 60 bridge over Lake Springfield
  • Rehabilitate the southbound Route 65 bridge over Route 60
  • Install new highway lighting.
  • Project completion: October 2012. 

Route 65 Six-Laning Project:  Springfield (Greene County)

  • Pouring concrete for the Route 65 median bridge over Chestnut Expressway
  • Pouring concrete for approaches to the northbound Route 65 bridge over railroad tracks south of Kearney Street and smoothing the northbound Route 65 pavement south of the bridge
  • Installing guardrail and other finish work at Route 65 bridges over Catalpa Street
  • Building bridge walls along the southbound bridge over the railroad tracks south of Chestnut Expressway
  • Rebuilding shoulders along the outside lanes between Kearney Street and I-44
  • Clean up work along Route 65 between Sunshine Street and Route 60

Traffic Impacts:

  • ROAD CLOSING: Chestnut Expressway closed ‘round the clock underneath Route 65 until Aug. 1. Drivers must use alternate routes.
  • TRAFFIC SHIFTS:
    • Route 65 traffic shifted toward median at Catalpa Street bridges
    • Southbound Route 65 traffic shifted toward median at railroad bridge south of Chestnut Expressway
    • Route 65 traffic shifted toward outside shoulders at Chestnut Expressway bridge
    • Northbound Route 65 shifted toward median between Chestnut Expressway and a point south of Kearney Street
    • Northbound Route 65 traffic shifted toward median at railroad bridge south of Kearney Street
  • Speed limit in work zones: 50 mph in areas

Project Background:

  • Widen Route 65 to six lanes, with lanes added in median
  • Rebuild and widen railroad bridges between Sunshine Street and Chestnut Expressway
  • Rehabilitate and widen railroad bridges between Division and Kearney streets
  • Widen bridges at Chestnut Expressway and Catalpa Street
  • Project completion: October 2011.

Campbell Avenue (Route 160/13) Six-Laning Project:  Springfield (Greene County)

  • Restriping pavement and opening up rebuilt Republic Road intersection at Campbell Avenue
  • Pouring concrete for ramp widening and new pavement at the Campbell Avenue/Route 60 (James River Freeway) interchange
  • Grading rock and dirt on the east side of Campbell Avenue between El Camino Alto Street and Lakewood Street

Traffic Impacts:

  • HEADS UP: Intersection of Republic Road and Campbell Avenue will be returned to normal traffic pattern, with one lane open in each direction, right-turn lanes open and left-turn lanes open.  Work will take place 7 p.m. Tuesday to 6 a.m. Wednesday. 
  • Equipment entering and leaving work areas moving with traffic
  • Other work taking place AWAY from traffic

Project Information:

  • Widening Campbell Avenue to six lanes between South Avenue north of Republic Road and a point north of Plainview Road (Farm Road 182)
  • Adding turn lanes at the Campbell Avenue/James River Freeway interchange, including a triple-left turn lane from westbound James River Freeway to southbound Campbell Avenue
  • Building sidewalk on west side of Campbell Avenue between South Avenue and El Camino Alto Street
  • Project completion: Aug. 2012

Weaver Road Relocation at Campbell Avenue (Route 160/13): Springfield (Greene County)

  • Installing new box culvert across Ward Branch Creek on Weaver Road west of Campbell Avenue
  • Blasting rock and dirt on the east side of Campbell Avenue north of Weaver Road
  • Relocating utility lines along the west outer road north of Weaver Road

Traffic Impacts:

  • Short term traffic stops on Campbell Avenue (Route 160/13) between Lakewood Street and Weaver Road for blasting.  Blasting hour:  6 p.m.
  • ROAD CLOSED:  Weaver Road CLOSED west of Campbell Avenue at Ward Branch Creek until late November.  Detour: Farm Road 145 to Republic Road to Campbell Avenue.
  • Dump trucks entering and leaving work areas moving with traffic
  • Ozark Greenways trail closed underneath Campbell Avenue south of Lakewood Street
  • Other work taking place AWAY from traffic

Project Information:

  • Relocating Weaver Road on both sides of Campbell Avenue 450 feet to north of current location
  • Widening Weaver Road to three lanes at Campbell Avenue to add dual left-turn lanes
  • Adding curb and gutter, sidewalks and new traffic signals at Weaver Road and Campbell Avenue
  • Building new box culvert at Ward Branch Creek
  • Project completion: Dec. 2011

Kansas Exp. (Route 13) Bridge Rehabilitation North of Division Street: Springfield (Greene County)

  • Pouring concrete for curbs on the northbound bridge deck and approach pavement on the north end of the bridge
  • Installing deck panels and tying reinforcing steel into place for the new deck
  • Installing bridge girders
  • Traffic signal work at Atlantic Street
  • Installing fiber optic cable in areas

Traffic Impacts:

  • TRAFFIC SHIFT:  Kansas Expressway traffic shifted to southbound lanes.  Only one lane open in each direction over bridge until October.  Delays expected.
  • Pedestrians are discouraged from crossing the bridge due to narrowed driving lanes
  • Locust Street CLOSED permanently underneath the bridge
  • Other work taking place AWAY from traffic
  • Bridge may be closed to traffic some nights

Project Information:

  • Replace Kansas Expressway bridge deck over the Burlington Northern-Santa Fe rail yards one-half at a time
  • Build new sidewalks along both sides of Kansas Expressway between Division and Atlantic streets
  • Install new traffic signals at Division Street and at Atlantic Street
  • Project completion: Dec. 2011

Route 174 Pavement Replacement: Republic  (Greene County)

  • Installing new drain pipes
  • Grading rock and dirt for new pavement
  • Pouring concrete for curbs and gutter

Traffic Impacts:

  • ROAD CLOSED: Route 174 closed underneath the railroad bridge between Route 60 and Lindsey Street until July 19. 
  • The city of Republic has signed a detour using Main Street between Route 174 and Route 60

Project Information:

  • Replace a 300-foot long section of pavement underneath the railroad bridge
  • Install new storm drains
  • Install new curb and gutter
  • Project completion: Aug. 5, 2011

Pearson Creek Bridge Replacement: Route YY, east of Springfield (Greene County)

  • Driving pilings for bridge footings

Traffic Impacts:

  • Route YY CLOSED until Aug. 3
  • Signed detour on Route 125, Greene County Route OO/744 and Route 65

Project Information:

  • Replace Pearson Creek bridge with longer, wider span
  • Bridge is part of MoDOT’s Safe & Sound bridge improvement program
  • Project completion: August 3, 2011

Roadway Maintenance -

  • Springfield area:  Seal bridge deck on Route PP/K over I-44; mow Route 60, South Campbell (Route 160/13), West Bypass (Route 160), Route 744 (old airport road) and Route 413; pick up litter, repair and replace signs and sweep and clean routes
  • Strafford area:  Patch the I-44 north outer road at Strafford; replace a drain pipe on the I-44 north outer road; mow I-44
  • Ash Grove area:  Mow Route 160
  • Fair Grove area:  Pavement repairs on Route KK
  • Walnut Grove area:  Mow
  • Watch for lane closings and slow-moving work vehicles.  Obey flaggers

Hickory County

Laclede County

Roadway Maintenance -

  • Lebanon area:  Repair roadway edges on Route 32; remove debris along I-44 and Route 5
  • Conway area:  Mow I-44
  • Nebo area:  Fill potholes and mow
  • Watch for lane closings and slow-moving work vehicles.  Obey flaggers.

Ozark County

  • Dora area:  Lay long asphalt patches on Route CC
  • Watch for lane closings and slow-moving work vehicles.  Obey flaggers.

Polk County

Construction Projects -

Route 123 Bridge Rehabilitation at Stockton Lake: Aldrich area (Polk County)

  • Pouring concrete for a portion of bridge deck
  • In other areas, setting deck panels and tying reinforcing steel into place on bridge deck

Traffic Impacts:

  • ROAD CLOSED: Route 123 at Stockton Lake CLOSED until July 27
  • Signed detour on Route 215, Route 245 and Route 32

Project Information:

  • Replacing bridge deck
  • Repairing bridge girders and other parts of the bridge substructure
  • Bridge is part of MoDOT’s Safe & Sound bridge improvement program
  • Project completion: July 27, 2011.

Stone County

Construction Projects -

Widening and Relocation Project: Route 13, Branson West to Kimberling City (Stone County)

  • Hauling and grading rock and dirt for the new section of Route 13 west of Route 13 at Stoneridge; installing drain pipes
  • Building a bridge for Armadillo Lane over Route 13 at Stoneridge
  • Clearing trees and brush along Route 13 between Branson West and Kimberling City
  • Relocating utility lines along Route 13 between Business 13 at Branson West and Joe Bald Road

Traffic/Lake Impacts:

  • Stoneridge Center Road shifted to new roadway at Quarry Road.  New road is located 150 feet north of existing roadway. 
  • Armadillo Lane traffic shifted slightly to the west to a temporary bypass.  Armadillo Lane traffic must stop at Stoneridge Center Road.
  • Short-term traffic stops possible on Route 13 for utility work
  • Crews and equipment close to traffic

Project Information:

  • Widen Route 13 to four lanes between the south edge of Branson West and Joe Bald/James River road north of Kimberling City
  • Lengthen turn lanes at intersections in Kimberling City
  • Resurfacing Route 13 in Kimberling City

  • Lampe area:  Mow Routes 13 and 86
  • Galena area:  Mow Route 13 and other routes
  • Watch for lane closings and slow-moving work vehicles.  Obey flaggers.

Taney County

Construction Projects -

Lake Taneycomo Bridge Project: Route 76/Bus. 65, Branson/Hollister (Taney County)

  • Installing bridge girders, bridge beams and deck panels on the historic bridge

Traffic/Lake Impacts:

  • BRIDGE CLOSED: Historic Lake Taneycomo bridge CLOSED into December
  • New Lake Taneycomo bridge OPEN  
    • DETOUR FOR ROUTE 76/BUS. 65 TRAFFIC: Branson Landing Boulevard to Route 248 to Route 65 to Route 76
  • Trucks entering and leaving work areas
  • Lake Taneycomo boat traffic stopped or diverted toward shore during bridge work
  • Work zone speed limit 25 mph

Project Information:

  • Build new Lake Taneycomo bridge connecting Branson and Hollister
  • Rehabilitate existing Lake Taneycomo bridge
  • Build oval “round-about” on the east side of Lake Taneycomo connecting the two bridges with Route 76/Business 65
  • Project completion: December 2011.

Route 248/Route 65 Interchange Reconstruction: Branson (Taney County)

  • Excavating for bridge footings in median and along shoulders of Route 65 at Route 248
  • Widening northbound off-ramp
  • Hauling rock and dirt on the southwest side of Route 248 bridge
  • Rebuilding entrances on Route 248

Traffic Impacts:

  • Nighttime lane closings possible on Route 65 and Route 248. Work hours: 7 p.m. to 6 a.m.
  • Narrowed lanes on Route 65 underneath Route 248 and along northbound off-ramp
  • Short-term traffic stops on Route 248 and Route 65 to allow equipment to enter and leave work areas
  • All other work taking place AWAY from traffic

Project Information:

  • Converting interchange to a diverging diamond interchange
  • Widening Route 248 bridge
  • Repairing existing Route 248 bridge deck
  • Widening ramps at the interchange
  • Installing new traffic signals and street lights
  • Project completion: Dec. 19, 2011.

Webster County

Construction Projects -

  • Calibrating new camera detection system
  • Cleaning up around project

Traffic Impacts:

  • New traffic signal to begin full on Tuesday, June 28
  • Lane closings possible at times

Project Information:

  • Lengthening right and left turn lanes
  • Widening Clinton Road at Route 60
  • Installing new traffic signals
  • Project completion: August 2011

Route 38 Bridge Replacement Projects at Greer Creek and Osage Fork: East of Marshfield (Webster County)

  • Building bridge columns and caps
  • Grading rock and dirt to relocate a section of Route 38 between the bridges

Traffic Impacts:

  • ROAD CLOSED: Route 38 CLOSED five miles east of Marshfield until October 1. Detour set up on Webster County Routes P and C.

Project Information:

  • Replacing Greer Creek and Osage Fork bridges on Route 38
  • Straightening a portion of Route 38 between the bridges to lessen a sharp curve
  • Reducing a high bank on the north side of the road to improve visibility
  • Project completion: October 2011

Panther Creek Bridge Replacement: Route KK, Rogersville area (Webster County)

  • Laying asphalt for approaches to the new bridge
  • Installing bridge walls

Traffic Impacts:

  • Route KK CLOSED until July 23
  • Signed detour on Webster County Routes B, OO and A

Project Information:

  • Replace Panther Creek bridge with longer, wider span
  • Bridge is part of MoDOT’s Safe & Sound bridge improvement program
  • Project completion: July 23, 2011

  • Marshfield area:  Mow I-44 and other routes; lay long asphalt patches on Routes M and Y
