Christian County Construction Projects -
Route 65/14 Interchange Reconstruction: Ozark (Christian County).
18th Street is closed on the north side of Route 14 to allow crews to rebuild the entrance to Route 14. Crews also will install new traffic signals at the intersection. The intersection is scheduled to reopen in the next couple of weeks. During the closing, drivers can use 17th Street to access the businesses along 18th Street.
Crews will install guardrail on the south side of Route 14 at either end of the bridge over Route 65.
Night work is scheduled throughout the week to allow crews to restripe the pavement on the southside of Route 14 and adjust traffic signals between 16th and 20th Streets. The work is needed to prepare for a traffic shift on Route 14 during the week of July 13.
Eastbound Route 14 traffic is shifted to the center-turn lane between 22nd Street and 17th Street.
The work is part of a project to widen Route 14 to five-lanes between 16th and 22nd Streets, widen the Route 14 bridge over Route 65, widen the ramps at the interchange to provide additional turn lanes and build new sidewalks, storm drains and concrete islands.
Scheduled completion: November 2009.

Route 65: Nighttime Pavement Repairs – Ozark to Springfield (Christian and Greene Counties)
One northbound lane of Route 65 between Route 14 in Ozark and Route 60 in Springfield will be closed at night. MoDOT crews will repair the pavement. The work will take place between 7 p.m. and 6 a.m. Monday through Thursday nights.
Ozark and Clever crews will replace signs along Route 14 between Ozark and Nixa. The sign-replacement work will mean one-lane traffic in various locations and a stop-and-go operation. Crews from Ozark will mow Route 14 east of Ozark and spray herbicides to control weeds along Routes 160 and 65.
Clever crew members will mow various routes.
Crew members from Sunshine will repair the pavement on Chestnut Expressway between West Avenue and Kansas Expressway and mow I-44 and Routes D and J. Crews will repair and replace signs along the Route 160/13 outer road south of Route 60.
Springfield crew members will mow Chestnut Expressway and other state routes in Springfield.
Republic crews will mow Routes 266, B, F, K, T, EE, AB, MM, PP, TT and UU. Crews will repair and replace signs along various routes.
Clever crew members will mow various routes.

Construction Projects -
Route 65 Widening: Fair Grove to Dallas County Route EE (Greene/Dallas counties)
Crews are pouring concrete for new crossovers and turn lanes in various locations.
Crews will lay asphalt to build approaches on Route 215 and Red Top Road opposite Route AA. Traffic is shifted away from where crews are working.
Crews will spread grass seed and mulch in areas.
The work is part of a project to widen Route 65 to four lanes between Route 125/CC at Fair Grove and Dallas County Route EE. New intersections will be built at Dallas County Route AA, Route 215/Dallas County Route OO, Route 38/Dallas County Route TT and Dallas County Route EE.
Project completion: December 2009.
Route 65 Widening and Relocation: Dallas County Route EE near Foose to Truman Road in Buffalo (Dallas County)
Kelly Road at the new Route 65 is OPEN to traffic.
Crews will grade dirt in the area of Kelly Road.
The Route 65 widening and relocation project will widen the road to four lanes between Dallas County Route EE and Truman Road in Buffalo. The road will be relocated to the west of the existing highway. New intersections will be built at existing Route 65 near Truman Road as well as at Neill Road, Kelly Road, Golf Course Road and Barnes Lane.
Scheduled completion: July 2010.
Route 32 at the Niangua River Bridge Deck Rehabilitation – east of Buffalo (Dallas County)
Route 32 east of Buffalo at the Niangua River is CLOSED to traffic.
Contractor crews will pour concrete to build bridge walls.
A signed detour is set up around the closed bridge on Dallas County Routes B, M and H.
The work is part of a larger project to rehabilitate and replace 802 bridges across the state as part of the Safe & Sound bridge program. There are 40 bridges in the Springfield region included in this program.
Project completion: mid-July 2009.
Route 73 Relocation: North of Buffalo (Dallas County)
Contractor crews will install a drain pipe along Route 65 at the new Route 73. Equipment and crews will be close to Route 65 traffic.
Crews will grade rock and dirt to build the new roadway.
The work is part of a project to relocate a one-half mile section of Route 73 between a point north of
Cowan Road to Route 65 north of Buffalo.
Project completion: August 2009.

Greene County
Construction Projects -
Route 60/65 Interchange Reconstruction: Springfield (Greene County)
No night work is planned during the week. However, traffic shifts will remain in place.
Traffic is shifted toward the median and the driving lanes are narrowed on northbound Route 65 north of Route 60 and on westbound Route 60 west of Route 65. Two driving lanes remain open in each direction on both roadways. Contractor crews are hauling in rock and dirt to build bridge ends in both locations. The work will take place behind the concrete barrier walls along the shoulders of the two roadways.
TRAIL CLOSING: The James River Greenway Trail and part of the Galloway Creek Greenway trail will be closed between the iron bridge on River Road and Brunswick Avenue on the east side of Route 65 during the week of July 6. The trail will be closed indefinitely to allow crews to build the new flyover ramps on the northeast corner of the interchange and complete bridge work on Route 60 east of Route 65.
The Galloway Creek Greenway trail is CLOSED at Route 60 near the railroad tracks. Trail access at that point will be closed indefinitely. Contractor crews will relocate a sewer line across the trail.
Crews will drive pilings and pour concrete for bridge footings for the new eastbound Route 60-to-northbound Route 65 “flyover” ramp west of Route 65 south of Route 60. The work will take place AWAY from traffic.
Crews will haul rock and dirt to an area along westbound Route 60 near the railroad tracks and to areas on both sides of the eastbound Route 60 to northbound Route 65 cloverleaf ramp.
Crews will grade dirt and pave a relocated cemetery road at Lone Pine Avenue.
Other work planned for the project includes clearing trees and brush in various locations.
Be alert for trucks entering and leaving work areas with traffic on the ramps and highways.
The work is part of a project to build directional, "flyover" ramps to eliminate a tight conflict point on the existing northbound Route 65 bridge over Route 60, build new bridges over the railroad tracks on Route 60, replace the northbound Route 65 bridge over Route 60 and the westbound Route 60 bridge over Lake Springfield, widen the eastbound Route 60 bridge over Lake Springfield, rehabilitate the southbound Route 65 bridge over Route 60 and install new highway lighting.
Project completion: October 2012.
I-44/Route 13 (Kansas Expressway) Diverging Diamond Interchange Project: Springfield (Greene County)
Crews will apply pavement stripes in various locations. However, the work should not disrupt traffic.
Crews will do finish work around the project.
Route 13 is in the new “Diverging Diamond” configuration over I-44. Route 13 traffic criss-crosses at the traffic signals allowing “free” left turns onto I-44. Drivers should follow overhead highway signs, pavement markings and the new traffic signals at the interchange.
The work is part of a project to reconfigure the interchange into a “Diverging Diamond Interchange” design. New concrete barriers and islands, traffic signals and street lighting are installed. A pedestrian walkway with LED lighting is built down the middle of the Route 13 bridge over I-44.
Project nearing completion.
I-44/Glenstone Avenue Interchange Reconstruction and Route H Widening: Springfield (Greene County)
Crews will widen Route H on the east side.
The northbound Glenstone Avenue bridge is being rebuilt and traffic is shifted to the southbound bridge. Two-way traffic is running on the southbound bridge – one lane in each direction. Also, the northbound Glenstone Avenue-to-westbound I-44 ramp is closed. A temporary eastbound I-44-to-northbound Glenstone Avenue ramp is open.
Crews will install a box culvert near Route H and McClernon Street.
Curb and gutter will be installed along Valley Water Mill Road.
Crews will grade dirt to build approaches to the new northbound Glenstone Avenue bridge over I-44.
Crews will build shoulders for the new ramps on the east side of the interchange.
Contractor crews will work on new traffic signals and street lighting in various locations.
The work is part of a project to replace the Glenstone Avenue bridges over I-44, replace the cloverleaf loops with a “diamond interchange” with new traffic signals on Glenstone at the ramps and widen Route H between I-44 and Valley Water Mill Road.
Project completion: July 2010.

Kearney Street Widening (Route 744): Springfield (Greene County)
Kearney Street is scheduled to be open to five lanes, two lanes in each direction and a center turn lane, between Eastgate Avenue and LeCompte Road.
Nighttime lane closings will occur on Route 65 underneath Kearney Street throughout the week. Crews will seal parts of the bridge over Route 65. The work will take place between 8 p.m. and 6 a.m. Monday through Friday.
TRAFFIC SHIFT: Kearney Street traffic is shifted to the north side of the bridge over Route 65. Two lanes remain open in each direction. However, drivers must make left turns from the inside lanes. Contractor crews will repair the bridge deck behind the barrier wall.
Until the new asphalt is laid, the Kearney Street pavement is uneven in areas where crews have ground off the top layer of asphalt. Drivers are urged to use caution at the bumps in the pavement.
The speed limit through the work zone is 35 mph.
The work is part of a project to widen Kearney Street to five lanes between Route 65 and LeCompte Road, rehabilitate the Kearney Street bridge over Route 65 and widen the eastbound lanes of Kearney Street between Mayfair Avenue and Route 65.
Project completion: September 2009.
Northbound Route 13 Lane Relocation: North of Springfield (Greene County)
The northbound lanes of Route 13 are open to traffic. Northbound traffic is shifted to one southbound lane at either end of the project to allow crews to connect the new lanes to the existing roadway. In the crossovers at either end of the project, the speed limit is reduced to 40 mph.
There is two-way traffic now on the old section of Route 13.
Contractor crews will continue building a new connection between the old highway and Farm Road 6 on the north end of the project and crews will make other improvements to the old road on the south end of the old highway.
Drivers must use Farm Route 34, Farm Road 44 and Route CC to access the new northbound lanes of Route 13.
The work is part of a project to relocate the northbound lanes of Route 13 between Pinewood Drive (south of Farm Road 48) and Farm Road 6. The new lanes will parallel the southbound lanes.
Scheduled completion: June 2009.
Bedford Avenue Relocation at Sunshine Street (Route D) – Springfield (Greene County)
The realigned section of Bedford Avenue at Sunshine Street is OPEN to traffic.
Due to work on other construction projects, work will be limited on the project until mid-July.
The work is part of a project to relocate Bedford Avenue south of Sunshine Street (Route D) slightly to the west to line up with Eastgate Avenue on the north. The project is a partnership with the city of Springfield.
Scheduled completion: August 2009.
Route M/ZZ Intersection Widening – Republic area (Greene County)
One-lane traffic is possible on both Route ZZ and Route M. Crews will lay asphalt to widen the roadways, build islands and stripe the pavement. Be alert for large trucks entering and leaving work areas.
The work is part of a project to widen the intersection of Route M and Route ZZ, add traffic signals at the intersection and build new entrances from Routes M and ZZ into the new Republic High School. The project is a partnership between the Republic School District, the city of Republic and MoDOT.
Scheduled completion: August 2009.

Route 5 at Laclede County YY/Harris Lane Intersection Widening/New Traffic Signals – Lebanon (Laclede County)
One-lane traffic is planned Tuesday and Wednesday to allow crews to pave Route 5. Crews will work between 7 a.m. and 5:30 p.m. Traffic delays are possible during the work.
The work is part of a project to add left-turn lanes on Route YY and Harris Lane and a right-turn lane on southbound Route 5 at Harris Lane and install new traffic signals at the intersection of Route 5 and Route YY/Harris Lane.
Project completion: August 2009.

Polk County
Route 13 Northbound Lane Relocation: South of Bolivar (Polk County)
Southbound Route 13 traffic maybe stopped for up to 10 minutes around 3 p.m. several times a week for blasting. The work is taking place just north of the Greene/Polk county line.
The crossover at Route 13 and 559th Road is closed. Drivers will have to find an alternate route around the closing. Crews will haul rock and dirt to build the new northbound lanes and rebuild the crossover. The crossover could be closed until late July.
Contractor crews will grade rock and dirt for the new southbound lanes near Route 215 at Brighton.
Crews will finish building box culverts on the north end of the project near 142nd Road and 508th Road.
The project will relocate the northbound lanes of Route 13 alongside the existing southbound lanes between the Greene/Polk county line and 490th Road in Polk County.
Project completion: June 2010.
