Dallas County

Construction Projects -

Route 65 Widening and Relocation: Dallas County Route EE near Foose to Truman Road in Buffalo (Dallas County)

  • Work on project limited until spring

Traffic Impacts:

  • Route 65 traffic shifted to temporary bypass south of Truman Road in Buffalo
  • Bypass speed limit: 40 mph

Project Information:

  • Widen Route 65 to four lanes and relocating it to the west of the existing roadbetween Dallas County Route EE and Truman Road in Buffalo.
  • Build new intersections at Neill Road, Kelly Road, Golf Course Road and Barnes Lane.
  • Project completion: July 2010. 

Roadway Maintenance -

  • Tunas area:  Cut and remove brush on Route E

Douglas County

Roadway Maintenance -

  • Ava area:  Cut brush and patch potholes on various routes
  • Drury area:  Patch pothole on various routes
  • Rome area:  Patch potholes on Route A
  • Squires area:  Patch potholes on Route N, cut and remove brush around culverts on various routes
  • Goodhope area:  Cut brush on Routes O, T and NN

Greene County

Construction Projects -

Route 60/65 Interchange Reconstruction:  Springfield (Greene County)

  • Blasting rock along westbound Route 60
  • Installing bridge girders for the northbound Route 65-to-westbound Route 60 “flyover” ramp
  • Building bridge columns in the Route 60 median west of Route 65 and inside the northbound Route 65-to-westbound Route 65 loop ramp
  • Working on bridges in various locations including the northeast corner of the interchange
  • Grading rock and dirt on the south side of Route 60 near the railroad tracks
  • Repairing the eastbound Route 60 bridge over Lake Springfield
  • Moving heavy equipment at night

Traffic Impacts:

  • Route 60 traffic slowed and possibly stopped at 5 a.m. Wednesday, Thursday and Friday.  Traffic slowed between Glenstone Avenue west of Route 65 and Greene County Farm Road 189 east of Route 65.  Then, blasting scheduled Monday-Friday at 5 a.m. weeks of  Feb. 15, Feb. 22 and March 1.
  • Nighttime ramp and lane closings possible during week
  • Traffic shifted and driving lanes narrowed on Route 65 and Route 60
  • Work zone speed limit: 60 mph

Trail Impacts:

  • James River Greenway Trail is closed south of Route 60 to Brunswick Avenue on the east side of Route 65.  The trail will be closed indefinitely to allow crews to build the new flyover ramps and complete other bridge work on Route 60 east of Route 65.  
  • Galloway Creek Greenway trail is CLOSED at Route 60 near the railroad tracks. Trail access at that point will be closed indefinitely.

Project Background:

  • Build directional, "flyover" ramps to eliminate a tight conflict point on the existing northbound Route 65 bridge over Route 60
  • Build new bridges over the railroad tracks on Route 60
  • Replace the northbound Route 65 bridge over Route 60 and the westbound Route 60 bridge over Lake Springfield
  • Widen the eastbound Route 60 bridge over Lake Springfield
  • Rehabilitate the southbound Route 65 bridge over Route 60
  • Install new highway lighting.
  • Project completion: October 2012.  

Route 65 Six-Laning Project:  Springfield (Greene County)

  • Widening railroad bridges in median south of Chestnut Expressway
  • Installing drain pipes and drainage culverts in median between Route 60 and Sunshine Street (work limited until median dries out)
  • Building retaining wall in median north of Route 60, work limited until median dries out

Traffic Impacts:

  • Traffic shifted to the right northbound and southbound at railroad bridges between Sunshine Street and Chestnut Expressway
  • Nighttime lane closings possible when crews can work in the median, on Route 65 between 7 p.m. and 6 a.m. Sunday through Thursday
  • Speed limit in work zones: 50 mph when crews present and when hazards exist in median

Project Background:

  • Widen Route 65 to six lanes, with lanes added in median
  • Rebuild and widen railroad bridges between Sunshine Street and Chestnut Expressway
  • Rehabilitate and widen railroad bridges between Division and Kearney streets
  • Widen bridges at Chestnut Expressway and Catalpa Street
  • Project completion: October 2011.

National Avenue/James River Freeway Interchange Reconstruction:  Springfield (Greene County)

  • Setting girders for National Avenue bridge over Route 60, postponed from week of Feb. 1
  • Building underpass underneath National Avenue just north of James River Freeway
  • Grading work in various locations along the ramps
  • Installing drain pipes around the eastbound Route 60 on ramp
  • Installing road signs along westbound Route 60
  • Both westbound lanes of Route 60 CLOSED Wednesday night.  Work hours: 9 p.m. to 6 a.m.  During closings, Route 60 traffic routed over the ramps at the interchange
  • Short-term traffic stops on the ramps to allow trucks to deliver rock and dirt and other construction materials
  • National Avenue traffic is shifted to the east just north of Bradford Parkway south of Primrose Street
  • National Avenue speed limit through work zone: 30 mph
  • Drivers urged to find alternate routes. 
  • Traffic delays taking place during morning and evening rush hours
  • All pedestrian traffic through the work zone must use the sidewalk on the east side of National Avenue between Primrose Street and Republic Road

Project Background:

  • Convert interchange into a “Diverging Diamond” where traffic criss-crosses at the ends of the bridge. Drivers traveling on National Avenue can make “free” left turns onto James River Freeway
  • Widen National Avenue bridge to three lanes in each direction
  • Build connecting ramps along Route 60 between Campbell Avenue and National Avenue ramps
  • Build new underpass underneath National Avenue north of James River Freeway
  • Partnership project between MoDOT, the city of Springfield and CoxHealth Systems
  • Project completion: August 2010

I-44/Glenstone Avenue Interchange Reconstruction and Route H Widening:  Springfield (Greene County)

  • Building concrete median on Glenstone Avenue south of I-44
  • Doing general clean up work around the project
Traffic Impacts:
  • All ramps open at the interchange
  • One lane in each direction on Glenstone Avenue at I-44 remains closed until concrete median built and pavement can be striped

Project Information:

  • Replace Glenstone Avenue bridges over I-44
  • Replace cloverleaf ramps with a standard diamond interchange
  • Install new traffic signals on Glenstone at the ramps
  • Widen Route H between I-44 and Valley Water Mill Road
  • Project nearing completion

  • Springfield area:  Cut brush on Route EE and Chestnut Expressway, patch potholes on various routes
  • Republic area:  Repair roadway edges along I-44 ramps at the Route N/T and Route PP/K interchanges, replace signs and patch potholes on various routes
  • Walnut Grove area:  Patch potholes on various routes

Hickory County

  • Wheatland area:  Patch potholes on various routes

Roadway Maintenance -

  • Lebanon area:  Patch potholes and repair pavement on I-44, cut and remove brush on Route 32 and other routes, chip brush on Route 5

Ozark County

Roadway Maintenance -

  • Gainsville area:  Cut brush and replace signs along Route 160, repair approaches on various routes
  • Hardenville area:  Cut brush along Route 160
  • Wasola area:  Patch potholes on Route N, cut and remove brush around culverts on various routes

Watch for lane closings and slow-moving work vehicles.  Obey flaggers.

Polk County

Route 13 Northbound Lane Relocation: South of Bolivar (Polk County)

  • Hauling rock and dirt to various locations on the north end of the project
  • Burning brush piles in areas away from traffic

Traffic Impacts:

  • Heavy equipment entering and leaving work areas with traffic

Project Information:

  • Relocate the northbound lanes of Route 13 alongside the existing southbound lanes between the Greene/Polk county line and 490th Road in Polk County
  • Project completion: June 2010.

  • Bolivar area:  Patch potholes on various routes
  • Pleasant Hope/Halfway area:  Repair roadway edges on Route H
  • Flemington area:  Clean out culverts on Route O
  • Eudora area:  Patch potholes on various routes

Stone County

Roadway Maintenance -

  • Cape Fair area:  Cut brush on Route 76

Taney County

Lake Taneycomo Bridge Project: Branson/Hollister (Taney County)

  • Clearing trees and brush along Route 76 east of the Lake Taneycomo bridge
  • Working on bridge pilings on the west shore of Lake Taneycomo

Traffic Impacts:

  • Short-term daytime lane closings on Route 76 when crews are removing large trees
  • Nighttime one-lane traffic on Route 76 east of Lake Taneycomo
  • Work zone speed limit 25 mph

Project Information:

  • Build a new Lake Taneycomo bridge, connecting Branson and Hollister
  • Rehabilitate the existing Lake Taneycomo bridge
  • Build an oval “round-about” on the east side of Lake Taneycomo connecting the two bridges with Route 76/Business 65
  • Project completion: December 2011.

  • Rueter area:  Replace signs along Route 160, repair approaches and patch potholes on various routes
  • Kirbyville area:  Cut brush on Routes K and MM

Webster County

  • Marshfield area:  Cut brush and trim trees on Routes 38 and A
  • Elkland area:  Culvert repairs on Route 38.  Slow down for bump
  • Fordland/Seymour area:  Clear and cut brush around culverts on various routes

Wright County

Roadway Maintenance -

  • Mountain Grove area:  Clear and cut brush around culverts on various routes
  • Hartville/Manes area: Clear and cut brush around culverts on various routes
