MoDOT, District 8, Springfield -- Drivers can expect one-lane traffic and slowdowns along Route 60/413 west of Republic starting Thursday, May 12, when a resurfacing project begins, the Missouri Department of Transportation said.
The top layer of the existing pavement on short sections of the highway will be ground off Thursday, May 12, and Friday, May 13, on Republic's west side and along a 1/4-mile section in Billings.
New asphalt will be laid starting the week of May 16 unless bad weather causes delays.
Work is scheduled to be completed by late June.
This project is part of MoDOT's "Smoother, Safer, Sooner" resurfacing program using Amendment 3 dollars.
The nine-mile long project calls for resurfacing Route 60/413 between the west city limits of Republic and the Christian-Lawrence county line just west of where Route 413 turns south toward Crane.
Flaggers will direct drivers through the work zone where the paving operation is taking place.
Work will be done during daylight hours, starting as early as possible in the morning and going as late as possible into late afternoon or early evening.
The roadway will get a new 1-3/4-inch driving surface.
Journagan Construction is the prime contractor on Route 60 resurfacing in Greene and Christian counties. Journagan also will resurface Route 60 into Monett and I-44 between Halltown and Mount Vernon under the same $7.9 million contract. Work will begin on those sections later in the summer.
