DISTRICT 8, SPRINGFIELD - Work to widen Route 60/413 through Republic will involve concrete paving on the north side of the highway and drain pipe installation on the south side through the weeks of June 14 and June 21, the Missouri Department of Transportation said.
The paving work could cause delays for drivers wanting to turn into businesses. However, driveways will be rebuilt half-at-a-time to keep access open.
Main Avenue is expected to remain closed at Route 60/413 and Broad Street will be closed at Main Avenue into the week of June 21. The closings are needed for relocation of underground pipes.
The Main Avenue approach to the highway is scheduled to be paved the week of June 14.
Concrete work is planned on the north side of Route 60/413 between Elm Street and West Avenue.
And sidewalks will be built along the north side of the highway between Hines and Elm streets.
No night work is planned the week of June 14 or June 21.
The Route 60/413 project involves adding a lane in each direction and rebuilding city street approaches and driveway entrances, with work continuing into the fall. The road will be resurfaced in the spring of 2005 after the weather warms up.
Updates on the construction will run on "Republic Radio," 1610 AM -- MoDOT's low-power station broadcasting round the clock from the project.
