A MoDOT maintenance worker was killed this afternoon in a motorgrader accident on U.S. 160 near Kissee Mills in Taney County.
Rueter Maintenance Supervisor Rick Harmon, 41, of Rueter died in the accident that occurred at about 1:30 p.m. (Thursday, August 19).
The Highway Patrol gave this account of the accident: Harmon had climbed out of the cab of a motorgrader to speak with fellow crew members when the grader began rolling. Harmon attempted to get back into the grader, but could not. He was run over by the rear wheels.
He was airlifted to Skaggs Hospital in Branson where he was pronounced dead.
Harmon and his crew were patching the pavement.
He was a 15-year MoDOT veteran, working most of his career at the Rueter Maintenance Facility located near U.S. 160 and Route 125.
Harmon is survived by his wife, Sandy, and two teen-aged children.
