DISTRICT 8, SPRINGFIELD - Crews may remove the traffic signals and install temporary signals at night during the week. The traffic signal will be turned off with Springfield Police Officers directing traffic during the work which will take place between 7 p.m. and 6 a.m. on one night.
The right turn-lane on the southwest corner of the intersection will be closed for several weeks to allow crews to rebuild the island. Drivers will have to make right turns at the intersection from the right-hand lane. Work is now taking place along the eastbound lanes of Sunshine Street west of Glenstone Avenue and along the southbound lanes of Glenstone Avenue south of Sunshine Street. Most of the work to rebuild business entrances and widen the pavement will take place AWAY from traffic.
The work is part of a project to add a second left turn-lane in each direction, re-align the right turn-lanes and install new traffic signals and street lighting. The project is scheduled to be completed by November 1.
