Heads Up: The plan to close the westbound I-44-to-southbound Route 65 ramp on Thursday night, February 8, has been postponed.  The nighttime ramp closing will be rescheduled for next week at the earliest.

Work scheduled:

* Installing bridge girders at night beginning Thursday night

* Completing a bridge column in the median of U.S. 65 south of I-44

* Tying reinforcing steel for future concrete pavement on the new northbound U.S. 65-to-eastbound I-44 ramp

Traffic Impacts:

* The westbound I-44-to-southbound U.S. 65 ramp closed between 11 p.m. and 5 a.m. Thursday night into Friday morning

* Dump trucks hauling dirt and rock traveling with traffic using U.S. 65 north of I-44

* Southbound U.S. 65-to-westbound I-44 ramp closed until late February

RAMP DETOUR: Southbound on U.S. 65 to eastbound I-44 ramp. Eastbound on I-44 to Route 744 (Mile Marker 84), go north over the bridge and then westbound on I-44

* The eastbound I-44-to-northbound U.S. 65 ramp closed until spring 2008

RAMP DETOUR: Eastbound on I-44 to Route 744 (Mile Marker 84), exit onto Route 744, go north over the bridge and then westbound on I-44 to northbound U.S. 65 ramp

* Traffic using temporary northbound U.S. 65-to-eastbound I-44 ramp

* Eastbound and westbound I-44 traffic shifted toward median

* Northbound and southbound U.S. 65 traffic shifted toward median

* All other work taking place AWAY from traffic behind concrete barrier walls

Speed limit throughout project: 50 mph. Work zone speed limit being enforced on regular basis by local law enforcement officers.

* New directional "flyover" ramp: northbound U.S. 65-to-westbound I-44

* New northbound U.S. 65 bridge over I-44; rebuilding northbound lanes between Kearney Street and Valley Water Mill Road

* Rebuilding northbound-to-eastbound and southbound-to-westbound ramps

* Rebuilding eastbound I-44 lanes underneath U.S. 65

Scheduled completion: May 2008
