Scheduled to Begin Wednesday, Sept. 9
MoDOT, District 8, Springfield -- Route 13 will be reduced to one-lane traffic south of Kimberling City with a resurfacing project scheduled to begin Wednesday, Sept. 9, the Missouri Department of Transportation said.
Drivers also can expect one-lane traffic on Route 160/13 between Branson West and Highlandville starting the week of Sept. 14.
Work will take place during daytime hours Monday through Friday and sometimes Saturday through October. However, rain will cause delays in the construction schedule. The contractor has until Dec. 1 to complete the project.
Drivers can expect traffic slowdowns. Work zones will be 1-1/2 to 3 miles long, with a reduced speed limit.
Obey flaggers and observe the work zone speed limit.
Route 13 South of Kimberling City
The 12-mile long Route 13 resurfacing project involves building two-foot wide paved shoulders and laying a new asphalt driving surface between the Kimberling City bridge over Table Rock Lake and the Missouri-Arkansas state line.
Centerline and edgeline rumble stripes will be installed.
Flaggers will alternate one lane of traffic through the work zone, with the speed limit reduced to 40 mph.
Route 160/13 North of Branson West
A contractor is scheduled to begin a diamond-grinding operation Sept. 14 to smooth the driving surface and rebuild shoulders on Route 160/13 between Highlandville and Route 176-East at Spokane -- nearly 8 miles. Centerline and edgeline rumble stripes will be installed.
The concrete pavement will be grooved and ground smooth by machinery equipped with industrial diamond shards mounted on a high-speed drum.
Diamond-grinding also will be done on a 4-mile long stretch of Route 160/13 between Reeds Spring Junction and the north city limits of Branson West. Existing shoulders will be sealed. Centerline and edgeline rumble stripes will be installed.
Flaggers will alternate one lane of traffic through the work zone where the diamond-grinding machines are moving slowly along the road. The speed limit will be reduced to 35 mph in the work zone.
Project Cost
The prime contractor is Journagan Construction of Springfield, doing the work south of Kimberling City for a low-bid amount of $1.4 million and north of Branson West for a low-bid amount of $1.1 million. The diamond-grinding subcontractor is Penhall Co. of Rogers, Minn.
