DISTRICT 8, SPRINGFIELD - Route 125 on the north side of U.S. 60 near Rogersville will be closed between 8 p.m. Monday and 6 a.m. Tuesday, July 26-27, and the same hours Tuesday night and Wednesday night.
Drivers will have to find an alternate route those three nights, the Missouri Department of Transportation and Greene County Highway Department said.
During the day Monday through Thursday, July 26-29, drivers on Route 125 can expect one-lane traffic. Flaggers will give directions. The lane north of U.S. 60 will be closed between 6 a.m. and 4 p.m. those four days.
The nighttime closing of Route 125 this week is necessary to allow Greene County Highway Department crews to continue work on a widening project. A center turn lane is being built on Route 125 between Route 60 and a point north of Farm Road 174 near Logan-Rogersville High School.
The road will be closed at night when traffic is light to reduce disruption to drivers.
The Route 125 widening project is a joint effort involving MoDOT, the Greene County Highway Department, the City of Rogersville, the Logan-Rogersville School District and a private developer.
Greene County Highway Department crews are doing much of the grading and widening work.
Paving will be done by Journagan Construction of Springfield.
The project is expected to be completed by mid-August.
The cost of $76,000, primarily for materials, will be divided among the partners.
