DISTRICT 8, SPRINGFIELD - A project to grind off the old pavement and resurface Route 83 (Springfield Avenue) in Bolivar at night is scheduled to begin Sunday evening, July 18, the Missouri Department of Transportation said.
Crews will work between 5 p.m. and 6 a.m. on Sunday nights. On week nights, crews will begin work at 7 p.m and finish by 6 a.m. the next morning.
Here's a look at what's planned.
* Crews plan to grind off two-to-three inches of old pavement on Route 83 (Springfield Avenue) between Jackson and Drake streets. This work will take two or three nights to complete. Two-way traffic will be maintained with one lane of traffic shifted to the center turn lane. When crews finish grinding the pavement, it will be bumpy and rough for a few days.
* At 5 p.m. Sunday evening, July 25, contractor crews will lay down 2-inches of new asphalt. This work will take four or five nights to complete. During the nighttime work, one lane of traffic, again, will be shifted to the center turn lane.
The resurfacing project will be done by Journagan Construction Company of Springfield at a low bid price of $141,508.
