DISTRICT 8, SPRINGFIELD - Pavement repairs are scheduled to be made on the bridges along U.S. 65 through Springfield in a nighttime operation starting Sunday, August 1, the Missouri Department of Transportation said.
The work will be done at night over the next two to three weeks on the busy highway because traffic is much lighter than during the day. MoDOT wants to minimize driving disruptions.
Lane closings will be 8:30 p.m. to 5 a.m.
The MoDOT bridge repair crew will saw out bad spots on each bridge deck and patch them with fast-setting concrete.
Drivers are asked to slow down when they see the signs and bright work lights ahead and merge carefully into one lane Sunday night, Monday night, Tuesday night and Wednesday night this week and next week and possibly into a third week, if necessary.
Rain will cause postponements.
The project is scheduled to begin Sunday night, August 1, on the U.S. 65 bridge over U.S. 60.
Through the week, repairs will be made to bridges between Interstate 44 on the north and the Greene-Christian county line on the south.
