DISTRICT 8, SPRINGFIELD - Widening the pavement and rebuilding the right-turn lane on the northeast corner of Sunshine Street and Glenstone Avenue in Springfield will keep contractor crews busy the week of July 26, the Missouri Department of Transportation said.
The work will include building new curbs and rebuilding business entrances north of Sunshine Street east of Glenstone Avenue.
If the right-turn lane on the northeast corner is not closed on Friday, July 23, it will be closed on Monday, July 26. Drivers will have to make right turns at the intersection.
With the closing of the right-turn lane, the intersection has all four right-turn lanes blocked as part of the construction.
Drivers will have to make right-turns from the right-hand through lane.
No night work is planned. No through lanes will be closed during the day.
MoDOT and the City of Springfield are working together on a series of intersection widening projects along Glenstone Avenue and Kansas Expressway. They include the Sunshine/Glenstone widening where left-turn lanes are being added, right-turn lanes realigned and new traffic signals and street lighting installed.
