Build alternating, intermittent passing lanes on Route 60 along 26 miles between Chapell Drive in Monett and Kansas Avenue in Republic
Project Details:
Build additional lanes to one side of the two-lane highway to provide drivers an opportunity to pass another vehicle without having to find gaps in oncoming traffic. The passing lane alternates between six eastbound and six westbound lanes giving drivers from both directions ample opportunity to pass.
Add center turn lanes in Billings and Marionville and between Rose Hill Road east of Billings and the Christian-Greene county line.
Resurface the highway.
Install edge line rumble stripes and centerline rumble stripes.
Install signs marking each section of passing lanes.
Timeline:
Accelerated to begin Summer 2009 (from previous date of 2011), with completion expected by the end of 2009.
