Need
- Improve traffic flow for Route 76/Business Route 65 across Lake Taneycomo between Branson and Hollister
- Address deteriorating condition of existing bridge without prolonged bridge closing with no alternate route other than a lengthy detour
- Solution developed in joint effort by MoDOT, Taney County and the cities of Branson and Hollister
Solution
- Build new bridge next to existing bridge and build round-about on Hollister side.
- Shift traffic to new bridge and close existing bridge for rehabilitation.
Construction
- October 2009 – Take bids
- 2010 – Build new bridge and round-about
- 2011 – Shift traffic to new bridge and close existing bridge for rehabilitation
- End of 2011 – When both bridges are completed and open to traffic, the new bridge will carry two-way traffic between Branson Landing Boulevard and the round-about at Hollister and the existing bridge will carry two-way traffic between Veterans Boulevard (Route 76/Business Route 65) in Branson and the round-about at Hollister.
Cost
- $17 million (estimate)
- American Recovery and Reinvestment Act funds will be used to pay for the project.
