Barton County: Access to Route DD at the intersection of US 71 is still set to close November 9, at 5 p.m.

The work is part of a larger project to convert existing US 71 to I-49. In order to become a freeway, intersections are replaced with interchanges. Residents who currently access the highway directly will have access to the new interchanges by way of frontage roads, service roads or county roads.

The Barton County landfill remains open throughout this construction project. Access to the Barton County landfill is still possible from the west end of DD.

Brauer Excavating began work on the interchanges at US 71 and DD/EE and at US 71 and V/C this summer.

Message boards are in place and will alert motorists of the road closure.
