CORRECTION Jasper County - The Quaker Mill Bridge is located on Route D, near Purcell, was closed this afternoon as a precautionary measure, following a routine bridge inspection by Southwest District MoDOT personnel. 

(Information was released earlier this afternoon with a different route location.) 

A bridge crew from Jefferson City is now scheduled to inspect the bridge and evaluate any additional measures that may be needed.

The bridge, which was built in 1900, will be closed until further notice.

The Quaker Mill Bridge is scheduled for repair or replacement as part of the Safe and Sound bridge program.  A decision on the date for this bridge work is currently under consideration.

The Safe & Sound bridge program improves 802 of the state's lowest-rated bridges by 2014.
