New Route F/Elk Creek Bridge
West of Ozark Ready to Open

*DISTRICT 8, SPRINGFIELD - A new bridge over Elk Creek on Christian County Route F west of Ozark is scheduled to be opened to traffic late in the day Tuesday, September 7, the Missouri Department of Transportation said.

Rain will postpone pavement striping and final dirt work, delaying the opening of the new span.

The Route F speed limit will remain reduced to 35 mph.

Construction began in April to replace the old one-lane bridge.

The new bridge is 32 feet wide with two 12-foot wide driving lanes and two 4-foot wide shoulders.

Crews must still do finish work on the project before it is completed:

* Final driving surface will be laid on Route F approaching the bridge.

* The old bridge and a section of the old road will be removed.

The prime contractor on the project is Burk Bridge Co. of Brookline for a low bid amount of $989,055.

The project is scheduled to be completed by the end of October.
