Hickory County - A project to make major repairs to the Pomme de Terre River bridge on Route 254 south of Hermitage will be the focus of a public meeting on Wednesday, August 20, in Hermitage, the Missouri Department of Transportation said.
Anyone interested in the bridge project, which is scheduled to begin September 2, is welcome. The meeting will be held between 4:30 p.m. and 6 p.m. at the Hermitage Community Building at 703 W. Highway 54 in Hermitage. Those unable to attend the meeting in person, can visit an online public meeting at www.modot.org/southwest .
The Route 254 bridge over Pomme de Terre River south of Hermitage will be CLOSED up to 35 calendar days between September 2 and early October.
MoDOT and contractor representatives will be at the come-and-go-style meeting to discuss traffic impacts during the bridge repair project. No formal presentation is planned.
MoDOT worked with the community and the school district to come up with a closing timeline that would be best for the community. A decision was made to close the bridge after the Labor Day holiday to avoid the summer tourist season at nearby Pomme de Terre lake.
The project will replace the bridge deck or driving surface, the bridge walls and make repairs to the bridge girders and other components underneath the bridge deck.
Prime Contractor: Lehman Construction, California
